On January 28, 2007, AIS will be installing an ISIS patch to the production environment. The installation is scheduled for 10 AM.

This install is not expected to cause any interruption in service. However, we would like you to test your application prior to and on 1/28/2007 to make sure everything works.

The following is the list of changes in this patch:

  1. More efficient LDAP queries
  2. New application profile retrieval routine
  3. Map additional response codes in ACF2 Authentication module
  4. Complete elimination of UID authentication code (READ this one carefully).

More efficient LDAP queries

The back-end LDAP calls against the Enterprise Directory have been restructured to improve efficiency.

IMPACT: This change should result in a small increase in performance. There is no other behavioral difference for the users.

New application profile retrieval routine

The application profile retrieval routine has been rebuilt to eliminate the phantom 704002 error some folks have been getting.

IMPACT: Combined with a new replication scheme, this change should just about eliminate and 704002 errors. It also reduces the time required for a profile change to show up in ISIS.

Map additional response codes in ACF2 Authentication module

We are updating the ISIS – ACF2 authentication response code Mapping table to handle additional, rare response codes from ACF2.

IMPACT: this change fixes a bug reported during the ISIS 5 rollout where the user was unable to log into ISIS because his account was in a previously unhandled ACF2 state.

Complete elimination of UID authentication code

UID/PIN authentication was deprecated during the ISIS 5 launch last year. We will be removing any UID/PIN authentication/status check code from ISIS in the coming patch.

IMPACT: By eliminating the UID/PIN code, UID will no longer show up as an account type in the structure in the VerifySession response. The correct place to look for a person’s UID is in the element in the structure. If you have been relying on the structure to look up a user’s UID, please make the change accordingly.

The test ISIS server will reflect this new behavior as of
midnight 1/9/2007. Please test your application against the
test ISIS server ASAP.
