The following announcement was posted on the ISIS tech list on 10/23/2006
———————————————————————————-

ISIS Users,

Starting at 6PM on Saturday 10/28/2006 through sometime on Sunday 10/29/2006, AIS will be implementing a series of changes in the mainframe, the Enterprise Directory, URSA, and ISIS to move the new Lifetime email process into production. During this implementation, ISIS will remain functional. However, there are some key items you should be aware of. Please read this announcement and plan accordingly. Thank you.

Impact #1: Email Data Unreliable During Implementation

Starting as early as 6 PM on Saturday 10/28/2006, through midday 10/29/2006, we will be reloading email data in the enterprise directory to conform to the new lifetime email workflow model. During this time, the email data you retrieve from ISIS’s VerifySession call will be unreliable. The other data will not be impacted. We will send a follow up announcement on Sunday when our loading process is complete.

Impact #2: UID/PIN authentication discontinued

At approximately 8 AM on Sunday, 10/29/2006, we will officially terminate support for UID/PIN authentication in ISIS. If your application currently allows UID/PIN authentication, that option will automatically be removed from your ISIS login page. If UID/PIN is your ONLY allowed authentication method, we will automatically replace it with UCLA Logon authentication instead.

In addition, if a user enters a 9 digit UID and 4 digit PIN, she will be directed to a page prompting her to create and use her UCLA Logon to log in instead.

We strongly recommend that you begin the migration process now:

1. Set up support materials to direct users to use UCLA Logon. There will be a separate email sent this week to the helpdesks with additional support material to help with the transition.
2. Update the helpdesk information in your ISIS profile.
3. Remove UID/PIN authentication as a login option as soon as you are ready. You can do this before Sunday.

Finally, be ready on Sunday morning to field support questions, particularly if you application relies on UID/PIN authentication heavily.

Testing

Because there is no coding change in ISIS. We do not expect technical issues. However, please do test your application against test ISIS to make sure you can properly handle UCLA Logon authentications. The test ISIS has been running in this new “no UID/PIN authentication” mode for sometime. The test ISIS login page is at https://i4w3.ais.ucla.edu/ils/login.aspx.
