KB: Status update for the 9/14 ISIS Web Service error
Problem
Starting at approximately 10:15 AM on 9/14/06, ISIS applications started receiving 704002 error when making web service calls.
Cause, Work Around, Resolution
We set up a semi-permenant workaround at around 11:10 AM on 9/14. Service was restored. The following email sent to the ISIS Discussion List explains the cause and workaround:

Hi all,
ISIS service has been restored. Please test your application and verify.
Earlier, while working with Cisco to resolve the medical enterprise networking issue, one or more rules on our content switch was changed. That change appearently caused the content switch to submit its virtual IP address to the ISIS servers instead of passing your application servers’ IP to us. Since ISIS web service checks your IP address to authenticate your application, it caused all ISIS applications to unable to log in to the ISIS Web Service.
To work around this issue, I have added that virtual IP address (164.67.228.231) to your application profile. If you sign into the ISIS admin utility, please DO NOT remove that IP address from your profile.
We will update your further as we find out more from our network folks.
Thank you.
